informal high five There were also numerous small theatre parties This week Mrs Kraft entertains the A hem Temporis Flores Mrs Arthur Brown gives a high five the Wednes day Night club will give its fornightly hop Mrs Kenyon gives a valentine I party and Mrs J T and Mrs FI J Dewey Richards have issued more than a hundred invitations for the same day I What are the Alien Temporis Flores is a question that has been on the lips of a good many society i people since invitations were received to the ball which took place at Christensen Chris-tensen hall Friday evening and the I living answers to those questions were eminently satisfactory except that no one agreed that the flowers belong 1 to past days It would be hard to find a more charming group of matrons t ma-trons than thosp who with their husbands hus-bands constituted the committee on invitations About seventyfive couples were in I attendance and all went merry as a marriage bell The floor and music were all that could be desired there was nothing to mar the pleasure of the evening which was devoted entirely en-tirely to dancing The card tables were conspicuous by the absence everyone ev-eryone preferring to practice as eight games were played each of the guests carried away a bouquet bou-quet of hyacinths carnations violets or marguerites with mignonette The prizes were won by Mrs A B Sawyer and Mr Weigel the former being presented pre-sented with a cluster of American beauty roses and the latter a basket of violets and white hyacinths There were about fifty guests Mrs Arthur B Witcher gave a small but very pleasant party on Wednesday afternoon the informality of which was one of its chief charms High five engaged the attention of the ladies during most of the afternoon Mrs John Tilton Donnellan winning first honors and a large bouquet of American Amer-ican beauty roses Miss Royle the second sec-ond prize a bisque candle stick and Mrs Fifield the third prize a bouquet of violets Mr and Mrs S J Kenyon entertained enter-tained some friends delightfully at high five on Friday evening The prizes were all books late publications publica-tions the first being won by Mrs Arthur Ar-thur Brown and Ther > is a great deal of dissatisfaction dissatisfac-tion among Salt Lake hostesses because be-cause some invited guests neglect to acknowledge invitations Last week thirteen of fifty ladies sent neither acceptance ac-ceptance nor regets to their hostess yet several of the delinquents presented present-ed themselves on the day of the party Every written invitation requires a reply and those who do not give my invitations that recognition will never be invited to my house again said a lady yesterday No one who has entertained en-tertained need be reminded that omissions omis-sions of this The residence of Mr Fred Meyer 929 East Second South street was the scene of a grand affair last Friday j evening the occasion being a recepi tion given by Mr and Mrs Fred Meyer in honor of Mr and Mrs P C Hannibal the parents of Mrs Meyer who were celebrating their golden wedding I They were married in Copenhagen i Denmark 1845 and were among the I first company who emigrated from that country to Utah in the year 1853 The honored and aged couple have resided re-sided in this city ever since and I passed through all the trials and wants of the early pioneer life The Meyer I residence was turned into a veritable I I bower the parlors and halls being beautifully decorated with roses carnations I car-nations and smilax The honored pair received congratulations under a I canopy of flowers in one of the parlors The dining room was decorated in red the tables arranged in the form of al letter H were laden with the choice viands a large wedding cake forming form-ing the center piece The evening
