Show GARLANDS FUNERAL Services Largely Attended By tho Former Senators Friends Washington Jan Funeral services serv-ices over the remains of exAttorney General A H Garland were held this afternoon at the Colonial hotel The parlors of the hotel and the corridors were filled with many warm personal friends General Garland had made during dur-ing his long residence in Washington The Rev Father Lee of St Matthews Mat-thews Catholic church performed the funeral rites and the remains were placed on the 43 train for Little Rock Ark where the state funeral will be held The party accompanying the remains south included Rufus C Garland eldest son of the deceased and James J Jones Jr who volunteered volun-teered to take the place of Sanders Garland another of the generals sons Floral offerings from friends of the family and from General Garlands political po-litical associates filled the parlors The honorary pallbearers were Attorney At-torney General Griggs Justice Harlan Justice McKenna J H McKenny clerk of the supreme court of the United States Senators James K I Jones James H Berry Arthur P Gorman Gor-man Representatives McRae W L Terry J M Wilson Walter McCrack en Walter Davldge AV H Smith and Franklin H Mack |
