Show I REENLIST VOLUNTEERS IWi 12 Reorganized Without Refer ece t States Washington March 25The war department de-partment has been asked If some of the volunteer regiments returning from I Cuba whIch were organized us im I munes could be reenlisted in their entirety I was stated that some of these regiments desire to so enlIst and I be sent to the Philippines In reply the deprirtinent says that fuch enlistments enlist-ments cannot be made The temporary reenlstments provide for under the army law are to be mae from volunteer volun-teer troops serving In the Philippines who wi be subject to ImmedIate mus terout a soon as the ratification of the peace treaty Js proclaimed I is expected that General Otis will or I ganize a brigade or more of those menThe r men-The organizations will be entirely new and no semblance of the former state regiments will be maintained It is possible that some of the volunteer officers of the state militia who have shown great aptitude in military matters mat-ters will be given commissions in the temporary regiments to be organized in the Philippines These new regiments regi-ments will not be kept In serice very long unless the situation In the Philippines Philip-pines becomes much vore The belief Is expressed that thIs is not likely |
