Show THE OPHTR CONSOLIDATED Old Mill Being Torn Down By W A I Clarks Men Mercur Miner There is quite a revival of business in Ophtr and the camp presents something some-thing of its oldtime activity This is owing 40 the purchase of the Ophir Hill property by Senarr Clark of Montana and the rebuilding of the old mill Ed I Clark has charge of the work and for the past thirty days about twenty men with teams and wheelbarrows have beeitSearlng down the old mill and grading1 out a site for the new mill Owing to the fact that all the debris has to be taken across the road the work of clearing out has been rather slow The site has been graded out thirty feet back of the old mill and the new mill will be considerably larger than the old one It will have about twenty jigs the old one having had seven or eight The lumber for the new mill is arriving and it is expected that the irptnters will begin framing and raising rais-ing the structure next Monday It was the expectation that several tbns of ore would be sent to Clarks Montana smelters for testing but after a few sacks had been shipped the ore was found to be unsuitable for use I there although the Salt Lake smelters pay a rood price for it on account of the iron it contains The new mill will be a model in its way and will contain many improvements not usually seen in a Utah mill Ten men are also employed in sink lag a new shaft on the ground which I will probably be the working opening or the property It Is reported that the senators visit to Europe was to securer secure-r control of the Buckhorn Treasure Hill and other properties on the Ophir Hill vein If this is done It will be a biz thing for OphSr and will mean the employment em-ployment of a large number of men Every person in the camp now has employment em-ployment and Mrs Duke < has all the boarders she can accommodate at the Pioneer hotel Oph Evans has opened his store in Lawrences old stone building build-ing Pete Pollock is also about to open a saloon and other business enterprises I enter-prises are talied of |
