A OlD URGrAR fOllfD HE TRIED TO BREAK INTO DENTIST DEN-TIST GATES OFFICE Frightened Away By the Occupant Before He Could Succeed In Effecting Ef-fecting an Entrance A bold attempt was made to break into tho office of Dentist C W Gates in rooms 200 and 210 of the Templeton block at 1 oclock thFs morning Mr Gates who lives in one of the rooms was suddenly awakened by some one who was rattling at the folding doors trying to get In He jumped up and called out Whos there Its the janitor said a voice Mr Gates ran out and heard the man drop to the floor and rush down stairs He then went to a window and watched the fellow rush up South Temple street to the Z C M I shoe factory where he disappeared On examination he found a ladder against the wall showing that the burglar had climbed up and reaching through the transom had unbolted the catch which held the door at the top In a few moments more he would have been inside It Is evident that he did not count upon an occupant tof the rooms Mr Gates hurridly dressed and I found Officer Johnson Together they went to the shoe factory but found no I trace of the burglar
