Show THIR CITY COUNCIL the bountiful city council met Wed wednesday nesda y evening ts dec claim of james day for 2835 previously referred to the street committee committe ewas was allowed hill was allowed the balance of the claim he or originally CD presented for his serviced servi services cec as astr r for 1897 0 on n st stone 0 no creek amounting to t this h amount having been by mi mistake ta k e ordered deducted by the water a t er committee A petition signed by thirteen of the water claimants on mill creek city lots jots upper ditch asking that they be set off as a separate water district and be allowed to control the waters of said ditch was presented the petition was returned to be handed banded to the incoming council the petition set forth for th that since the city had been incorporated that from two to four times as much water tax had been assessed as previously and that no improvements had been made the council said that not near all the water tax bad been collected and that all the tax collected had been expended exclusively for the benefit of the water district in which it was collected and that besides money had been paid out of the general fund to pay water bills it was futher explained that it was a great benefit to have the city control the water as all the lawsuits and expenses of that kind were paid out oat of the general fund it was further stated that all had been done that the city could do to collect the tax that from year to year sales of property had been made and that the law had to be complied with which gives the delinquent a certain number of years to redeem in eventually he would probably have to pay the taxes and costs with interest attention was called to the fact that this year a 15 lumber culvert had been put in across the county road near jed String highams hams to carry the waste water on said branch ditch which had been paid for out of the general fund it was f urther further estimated that only about 20 was assessed on this bartic particular ular ditch and that 85 5 went to pay the leaving c 15 for improvements on the creek providing providen all had paid their taxes and that just that amount had already been expended for improvements on said ditch as above stated claim of E east ast bountiful relief society for four months rent of council room amounting to was allowed claim of marshal Mars halWood wood amounting to 2225 for services collecting ln t r licenses and other work was presented and referred to a committee claim of james H moyle co for filing brampton injunction suit amounting to 5 was allowed claim of daniel davis for removing rock in road near john fallers fablers fab ahlers lers amounting C to 5 was allowed claim of amos cook for six and a half days services on committee work amounting to s 10 was allowed claim of recorder green for recording minutes and doing doin 0 general city work amounting to 18 was allowed 0 P hatch was present and said that he had bad intended to file some papers containing an agreement n between him and and water claimants on mill creek but owing to some changes that had been made it was decided to till them later ad adjourned burned to wed dec at 7 p m |
