Show UTAH CROP BULLETIN Good Growing Week Reported By Director Murdoch Following a summary of the weekly crop bulletin issued by Director Mur doch yesterday The first part of the week ended June 19 was cool Frost was general over the state on the morning of the 14th but was heaviest in the southern districts Potatoes tomatoes sand s-and other tender plants were nipped but no serious damage resulted High temperatures prevailed during the latter lat-ter half and brought the mean temperature temper-ature for the week nearly up t normal nor-mal I was the best growing week of the season and all crops made rapid advancement The cutting of the first crop of lucern is general the yield will be a little lighter than usual on account ac-count of the backward spring Straw I berries are being picked reports indicate indi-cate that the yield of this fruit is quite light Winter wheat and rye are heading head-ing out Sugar beets spring wheat and oats are in excellent condition No rain ha fallen but the high temperatures have produced a rapid melting of the some of the southern counties water is coming down from the mountains In some of the southern counties water scarce but over the creator portion of the state there is an abundance at present and will be throughout the season |
