Show STAR VALLEY NEWS A grani grand surprise health of the people light 9 winter on friday rooming morning our esteemed brother daniel C wood who soon leaves our shore to be a fisher of men was sent for to attend a special meeting at which would be some of the stake presidency on arriving at the big rock meeting house he be was greeted by an unusual full house bethe y et he did not suspect liis ills being the victim of the occasion nor did he till tile the chaplain in the course of his prayer divulge the secret when his feelings could have been better imagined than described from ten a m till noon soon passed by with a most pleasing and interesting pro gramme after which the vast multitude prepared for a most sumptuous feast two i tables each fifty feet long were twice heaped with a superfluity of vie fie bounties of nature and each time by the ebbing 0 tide swept away it was at the dinner table our friend was again made the victim of a surprise on turning over his plate he was amazed at the appearance of a nice watch cozil cozily y nestling among among 0 piles of silver dollars quarters dimes etc the former being the compliments of his oldest son daniel T wood and the latter partial tokens of respect by his many fri friends enis the afternoon and evening were spent in gaming feasting a and dancing interspersed gitil with songs songe lations speeches declamations etc and in fact everything that could be suggested of a pleasing and enjoyable nature was not overlooked until we were all surprised sed to know midnight had come and the assembly di disappeared appeared showers of congratulations and we feel to still echo our sentiments of best wishes and blessings that when he steps on En england glands s shore his labors will be crowned with success as his work at home we are sure wih will be from tile the fact he leaves on oil the old homestead a most amiable wife and a large family of affable L loys boys whose every care and atten attention tio n will be to his best possible interest albough the angel of death has not this season intruded we cannot say the health of the people is good many have been and are yet complaining pla plain ining Dg of severe colds sore throats etc no doubt is a stage stag of la 11 grippe though 0 not so severe as it was two years ago acro we have till now had a very light winter just enough snow for sleighing has been clear and very cold excellent weather for work and judging from tile the great piles of logs poles etc decorating our town one would not think it has been vainly spent the last four or five days have brought to us the worst blizzards a star a r N valley r it iley his has experienced for some thime but has now passed on many thanks for the regularity of the CLIPPER whose visits always finds a hearty welcome especially among her absent but not forgotten bountiful relatives and friends success to her columns Jo josepn 11 HOLBROOK |
