Show WRECKED IN DENSE FOG I An Engineer Scalded and Others Seriously I Injured Lima O Oct 2A bad wreck occurred oc-curred on the Pittsburg Fort Wayne Chicago road in a dense fog about 6 oclock this morning between the second section of the westbound vestibule ves-tibule train and No 25 which was standing at the switch near Monroe vie and the second section of the eastbound passe ger No4 The eastbound train was late and was running at a good speed but Engineer Cowan commenced to slow up a he thought it was about time for him to reach the switch Suddenly the other train loomed up and before he could stop crashed into each other and piled up in a wreck Engineer Cowan was frightfully scalded Fireman Dally was badly hurt Brakeman Hunt Is suffering from wounds which may result fatally The first car from the engine was not damaged but the two following were smashed and some passengers seriously hurt Mrs Anna Smith of North Jackson and Miss Nettle Wilson of Allegheny were seriously hurt On the westbound train the engi eng neer and fireman escaped but the tender was driven through the baggage bag-gage car and pinched Baggagemaster Stevens under the debris fatally injuring in-juring him i is thought |
