Show PRICE OF SILVER I New York Delegates to Chicago Show I I I What White Metal Controls I NEW YORK July 27 Delegates from this city to the Bimetallic convention to 1 A be held In Chicaeo next week today i 7J adopted a lengthy set of resolutions set I T ting forth that official statistics show f that the market price of silver bullion has controlled most of the I ha controled prices for products pro-ducts of American labor and especially 1 wheat and cotton since silver was demonetized l de-monetized in 1S73 that tho decline in the price of silver bullion and the contraction I contrac-tion of the volume of legal tender paper I I money caused a tremendous fall in the prices of wheat and cotton The resolutions assert that English influence in-fluence is benlnd nearly all efforts to putdown I put-down the price of silver bullion so that 1 she can obtain the products of labor in i all countries at the starvation prices paid for labor in England and its dependencies nad state that it is the first duty of Congress Con-gress to study the effect the price of silver bullion has over other products of labor in this country before determining on J any fixed policy of changing its present ratio with gold or before ruining all A American products by withdrawing the slight support silver now has under our laws They also declare that Congress should investigate the conduct of treasury officials in selecting the market price of silver in a foreign country to govern its purchases here and i found to be unlawful un-lawful have the proper officials impeached |
