Show BEHRING SEA COURT 3Ir ConCert of Counsel for the United States Concludes His Argument PARIS May 9 Coudert of counsel for the United States continued his argument argu-ment today in the Behring sea hearing He quoted from the counter case of Great Britain which he argued virtually confirmed con-firmed his contention of pelagic sealing gradually destroying the seal species He read and commented on the evidence of London furriers showing that theseals captured by pelagic hunters were chiefly females He contended that the modus vivendi was a temporary abdication of American rights which the United States confidently left the tribunal of arbitration to uphold In dealing with the question of damages advanced by Great Britain Mr Coudert said the British claims with respect of the prospective catch was untenable When Mr Coudert finished his speech Baron De Courcel president of the tribunal said to him We thank you for the great ability liveliness and humor with which you have carried us over what would otherwise been rather a dreary field of a question of fact |
