| Show The President at Lincoln Neb LiNcoLNNeb May 13The presidential drain entered the state at an early hour this morn ins The first stop was made at Hastings Hast-ings at 630 A largo crowd including Grand Army men civic societies and schoolchildren school-children greeted him with applause as he was introduced The President addressed those assembled thanking them for their early welcome and expressed himself grati fed at everything he saw The President was the only one of the travelers out of bed I at Hastings The visitors wero given a cordial reception at Fairmount and Crete 5 and the President made a short speech at each place Governor Thayer Lieutenant Governor Majors and all the state officers joined the visitors at Crete and welcomed I them to the state The travelers arrived I at Lincoln at 9 oclock ron r-on schedule time and received a most cordial welcome The local mill L tary Grand Army men university cadets Young Mens Republican club and 2000 school children formed a procession and escorted the visitors to the capitol where the ceremonials of the day took place An address of welcome was made by Governor Thayer and by the mayor of Lincoln Appropriate responses wore made by the President postmastergeneral and secretary of agriculture The city was handsomely decorated for the occasion and business was entirely suspended dur ing the ceremonies which lasted an hour The mail carriers of the city were mounted and acted a a special escort to the postmastergeneral during the parade Just before leaving the President received i a large delegation from Omaha They proceeded 5 pro-ceeded him in a special train to Omaha |
