Show t A LITTLE MORE SUGAR In a courteous letter to THE HERALD Manager T R Cutler of the Lehi Sugar works explains that the need of the works for the next seasons operations is not a greater acreage of beets for the necessary quantity is fully assured but a better I quality of beet one the t contains a greater J amount of saccharine matter He says from present a ppearances the factory will have 30000 tons of beets this year about as much as it can utilize until better educated edu-cated in preserving the beets from frost The great requirement now is the education edu-cation of the farmer in producing a better bet-ter beet which will be more profitable to I the works A high price is given for the roots and raising them is quite profitable to the farmer but he will have to improve in their quality in order to maintain the present price The intention is todouble the capacity of the works as soon as possible for as I THE HERALD has stated the home market I is not anything like supplied at present and if localities can be found as favorable as that at Lehi for sugar works plants will have to be erected to furnish Utah for its home demand and afterwards for export Every TJtonion desires to see the I industries of the territory multiplied as fast as the demand increases and to see I home products patronized at home in presence imported articles I I a I |
