to Garfield beach and a great many questions ques-tions are asked about it The cabin or shanty was built by C H Taft a life insurance agent and for the purpose of taking up tho island of Black Rock The Union Pacific railway was bo lioved to own the little island but on look lte ing the matter up Mr Taft discovered that it had never been platted and hence could not haqo been included in the government grant of lands to the Union Pacific coin puny Black Rock is of no particular value either for farming or for anything else Mr Taft however values it at 25000 not on account of its size but because it is tho only island within easy access to the pier and will be a very desirable place for persons rowing in small boats to make a landing Among the prospective uses to which It may bo put is a wino cellar By excavating the center of the rock n space can be hollowed out and filled with tables which would make n delightfully cool resort re-sort for persons out rowing in which to refresh
