Show AJIUSE3IENTS THE DANIEL FROHMAN LYCEUM COM S P PANY Al A good audience composed of intelligent intelli-gent and critical people enjoyed the evening even-ing entertainment provided by the Lyceum Lyce-um company at the theatre lat night Americana Abroad is new to Salt Lake and the first two acts were watched so closely that there was little applause I except when the old favorites such as Kelcey and Le Moyne Georgie Cayvan Sffie Shannon Mra Whiffin and Mrs Walcot made their appearance But there was a vigorous recall at the close of the second act and during the third much enthusiasm The play is bright clean full of humor and pathos intermingled and in some respects is unique There is no stage villain in it the mercenary matchmaking matchmak-ing Baroness de Beaumont being the only wicked character and she is foiled at every step without any delay till the finale as is usual There is not an improper im-proper suggestion or incident in the whole play nor is there anything improbable im-probable in its plot or denoument There is some very fine acting in it Messrs Kelcey La Moyne Badcliff and Cook have parts for which they are per fectlyadapted and the same may be said of Misses Cayvan and Shannon and Mrs Wolcot Mrs Whiffeo had but a small part to fill but of course made the most of i The three scenes were splendidly set and the dresses were rich and appropriate appropri-ate Everything was done in that perfect per-fect manner which is characteristic of the Lyceum company and the artistic performance per-formance was thoroughly enjoyed Tonight The Charity Bal will be presented There is no need to say a word in its praise to those who have seen it To those who have not we simply say be sure to go tonight for it is one of those dramatic compositions performed to perfection per-fection which once enjoyed is never forgotten for-gotten For Thursday night Old Heads and Young Hearts is the bill of fare provided pro-vided |
