Show I MLEOD AGAIN WINS He Will Continue to Control New York New England I 1 Rather Warm Meeting of the Stockholders Stock-holders Held but His Ticket Is Elected Other Railway Moo tinge i BOSTON March 14The annual meeting meet-ing of the stockholders of the New York j 8 New England railroad was held here I today A A McLeod presided and was greeted with hearty applause The reading of President Parsons report re-port was waived Brandies council for Goldsmith Co objected to > er I 3lf tin statements in the presidents annual l k nual report and asserted ii as-serted that they should not be accepted I ac-cepted without ascertaining t wihont t I d I certaining their I truth H e moved a D A E therefore that charges char-ges in the presidents report in regard to falsification of car accounts and fraudulent fraudu-lent management of the New England Terminal company be referred to a special spec-ial committee to report at an adjourned meeting He also moved for a stock vote on the motion icePresident Prince declared that Brandies motion and suits of Goldsmith Co were for the purpose of crippling in the New York New England road the interest of other roads Finally after an extended discussion a motion was made that Mr Parsons report re-port and Brandeis motion be laid on the I table and the meeting proceeded to a stock vote on the motion The motion prevailed 142571 to 5569 Brandeis then made a motion reciting in detail the alleged questionable transactions transac-tions outlined in his previous motion and calling for the appointment of a special committee consisting of three stockholders stock-holders not officers or directors to investigate in-vestigate these transactions and t submit sub-mit to the stockholders at the adjourn mantof this meeting the result of such investigation in-vestigation together with their recommendations recom-mendations thereon An amendment offered to Brandeis last resolution was carried that the next meeting be called by the president instead of a special committee and the resolution a amended was adopted I was then voted to elect directors by a stock vote and the polls were declared open for one hour with a certainty that the fight was over The MeLted ticket was elected This ticket was made up of McLeod of Philadelphia Thomas C Platt of New York and their friends mostly New York and Philadelphia men though it includes a number of New England capitalists cap-italists and James W Doan of Chicago |
