Show DEMOCRATIC SENATORIAL CAUCUS A Tl ide Difference of Opinion on the Silver Sil-ver Discussion WASHINGTON Aug ONearly every Democratic senator was present at the party caucus this morning to decide i possible ou plans at party action relative to silver discussion The meeting developed devel-oped a wide divergence of views which was that between the wings of the party on free silver coinage and that when the time for the Senate to assemble had arrived ar-rived nothing was accomplished and an adjournment was taken till after the Senate Sen-ate adjourned for the day The free silver Democrats at once held a conference with the free silver Republicans cans and the result was soon evident for the latter voted with the Democrats for the adjournment of the Senate without the transaction of business The caucus then immediately reassembled After two hours session thq j caucus adjourned ad-journed without reaching J conclusion as to a line of policy There is strong difference dif-ference ol opinion on the silver question aud the caucus adjourned to meet again in a few days Meanwhile the subject of silver repeal will not figure in the Senate for the purpose is to adjourn from tomorrow tomor-row till Monday Immediately after the adjournment of the caucus Mr Gorman called Into consultation con-sultation Senators Blackburn Gray Ran soni Yoorhues and Cockrell Although G rman had not made his appointment at the time of the consultation their presence gave color t the expectation that they wouldbe nampdaf members oft of-t the caucus committee tomorrowS tomorrow-S |
