Show PIONEER DAY Quietly Celebrated in Salt LakeAc the Various Resorts Pioneer day was very quietly celebrated in Salt Lake There was a general suspension sus-pension of business and nearly everybody sought the outoftown resorts Garfield Beach This resort was thronged throughout the entire day and considering the rush the crowd was handled very well It was probably the biggest day in the history of this resort At lake Park Farmington people spent yesterday at Lake Park The opening exercises commenced com-menced at 10 a m the following being the programme Singing Uy the Argonauts Prayer Chaplain Jacob Miller Music ou Band Oration by the Orator One of Gun the day uuA Rosa Soloo Tne Pioneers Miss Olene Smith Mary Queen of Scots M Thomas Quartette Star Spangled Banner Argonauts Music Band Address Young Utah W G Palmer Toasts and Sentiments In the afternoon there was dancing boating and various athletic sports and a grand ball in the pavilion would up the days festivities Shades ot the Wasatch At least 100 people sought the shades and enjoyments of Wasatch yesterday The ridels beautiful and there is no place lovelier in Utah than the retreat But it takes altogether too long to get there Yesterday there was a mysterious wait of forty minutes at the junction and those who made the trip often say that it is no new thing The cause of the long atop is unknown but it is none the less exasperating exasperat-ing The lay at Caltlers and Smoots The usual sports of I holiday were gone through with at Gaidars the band mush being best of all the attractions Al Smoots park the excellent programme prepared by the Jefferson Drum corps was carried out in excellent style and was much appreciated There was not a largo crowd I at either place |
