Show The Umatllla Indian Lands Considerable interest is being taken here in the forthcoming sale of the Uma tilla Indian lands in Oregon The commissioner com-missioner says that the law directs that these lands be offered for sale to the highest high-est bidder at not less than the appraised value and in no case at less than 5125 per nero The lands are classified as timbered and untimbered and tho amount allowed to each purchaser is limited to 160 acres of untimbered and an additional forty acres of timber lands No person will be permitted per-mitted to purchase the timbered lands unless un-less ho is also the purchaser of untimbered lands The instructions state that the terms of payment for untimbered lands are onethird of the purchased price in cash and onethird in two years from the date of sale with interest at 5 por cent The land officers are instructed to call attention to the improvements on the land as being offered at the appraised valuation thereof in addition to the price of the land and that such improvements must be paid for I in full at the time of purchase Every purt chaser Is required to make affidavit tha the land is bought for his own use and occupation B i oc-cupation |
