Gaisford Found Guilty of Assault In the Third district court yesterday the case of David Gaisford charged with assault as-sault with a deadly weapon was called for trial Mr Critchlow prosecuting and J Breeze S Burrows defending The indictment indict-ment charged that on the night of February 5 last the defendant assaulted Ephraim Madsen with a knife The evidence showed that on the night in question the parties were at a dance at a hall near Liberty Park Gaisford and Madsen had some difli culty The latter testified that the defendant defend-ant cut him in the arm with a knife There was a decided conflict in the evidence on this point The jury found the defendant guilty of an assault Sentence was set for Tuesday next at 10 am
