| Show FAIR ECHOES The Award to the First Brigade Band Confirmed Con-firmed Other Business The board of directors of tho Deseret Agricultural and Manufacturing Society held a meeting last evening There were present Messrs McDaniels Simon Wells Empey Rowe Mason and Haight It was decided that no further money be spent on sinking the wells at the fairgrounds grounds President Lawrence and Secretary Wells were appointed a committee to request the city council for en appropriation to cover the water taxes levied Major D L Levy requested by letter the use of the fair grounds for a coursing match to be held shortly Granted The secretary read u preliminary state mout to date of the receipts and expenses Incurred at the late lair also a financial statement of the present condition of the society which will be published later when complete The band contest committee presented their reportrecommending that the decision of the judges in awarding the prize to the First Brigade band of Salt Lake be confirmed con-firmed which was accordingly done A petition by the Young Ladies Drill Corps was presented requesting the use of the fair grounds for drilling purposes on certain days which was granted Several bills wore presented and ordered paid The following resolutions were ordered printed in the newspapers of the city and copies sent to the governor of the territory terri-tory the mayor and city council the Salt Lake chamber of commerce the Salt Lake stock exchange Judge Bartch Ben R Eldredge Professor Sanborn etc After which the mooting adjourned until the first Saturday in December Resolved That the board of directors of the Deseret Agricultural and Manufacturing Manufactur-ing society hereby publicly express the thanks of the society to the citizens ot the territory of Utah for their very generous patronage of the territorial fair of 1891 and in a special manner extend thanks to the awarding committees for their arduous and important labors performed without compensation com-pensation to tho donors of special premiums pre-miums for their public spirit and encour agement in a worthy cause to his excel lenoy the governor of Utah for countenance counten-ance and support to the mayor and city council of Salt Lake city for valued favors to the Salt Lake chamber of commerce and the Salt Lake stock exchange ex-change for energetio and valuable assistance assist-ance In the mining exhibit to Judge Bartch Ben R Eldredge and others for their efficient services to Prof Sanborn not only for his own important and discriminating dis-criminating services but for the excellent and interesting exhibit from the Logan Agricultural college and last but not least to the press of the territory for their valuable valu-able help columns of space courteous treatment and intelligent advocacy of the fair |
