Show SLIM JEll IN DEEP CREEK The Unsuccessful Exploits of a TinHorn Desperado The arrival of Constable R S Gash and M F Gash accompanied by Paul Buckley Buck-ley and Mr Smith from Deep Creek created cre-ated quite a sensation among the delegation delega-tion from that part of the territory who have been sojourning at the Walker house for the past two or three months They took to Tooele a prisoner commonly known as Slimjim but whose proper name is E P Scollard The reputation of this individual is generally known in the mining camps of that part of the territory terri-tory as a tin horn gambler His object ob-ject in going into that territory was generally I gen-erally believed to fleece a certain wealthy gentleman residing there In this he failed Afterwards in his desperation he conceived tho idea of playing a bluff game upon certain parties who he had reason to believe carried more or less money on their person In this he was equally unsuccessful He flashed his revolver re-volver in the face of two or three parties and by so doing succeeded in forcing them to hold up their hands until his personal search revealed the fact that a dry haul had been made Afterward he tried the road between J O Devines store and the Errickson ranch with no better result Later upon the same day one of the parties who had been previously held up returned properly armed for the occasion occa-sion Upon presenting himself before Slim Jim with the declaration that he was there to settle the question Slim J pleaded that he was disarmed when his antagonist immediately handed his revolver to a bystander and in one time and two motions landed Slim oven a barrel standing close by This castigation castiga-tion did not seem t satisfy the outraged feelings of other parties who were among the holdups and Slim Jim now rests behind be-hind the bars at Tooele where he will remain until the grand jury sits |
