Show PROTECTIVE LEAGUE Citizens of Pocatello Call aMass a-Mass Meeting No Bidding for LoU Occupied by Residents Strangers Warned Not to Bid for them Trouble Would Result POCATELLO Idaho July 11Speclal telegram to THE HERALD An impromptu mass meeting attended by over 500 of our citizens was held tonight at the opera house for the purpose of focming a protec tive association apropos to the sale of town lots which commences Monday It was unanimously agreed that an order that all classesrich and poor might pbtain the lots on which their homes are built or on which buit t build homes some united effort must be made to keep outsiders as well at citi zens who may have some petty grievances against another from bidding and becom Ine purchasers the property rightfully be longing to those who have made this city their home To this end it was stipulated that all citizens pay to the association 2 percent per-cent of the cost of the 10 ts to be used a a contingent fund All those agreeing to this would be protected from other parties bidding on property now picked out Messrs Hannaford JMchelberg and Bennett Ben-nett were appointed a committee to make entries of lots picked out show strangers what property has already been chosenand on the quiet t warn them from bidding on tho same as serious trouble might result It is not the idea of the association to keep outsiders from purchasing a can be read ly seen in the necessity for outside capital but merely t keep from purchasing property prop-erty for which monopolies could afford to pay a much higher price than poor but I deserving parties entitled to it The meeting was harmonious throughout but no deviation will be made from the protective agreement and mutual understanding under-standing to attend to the cases of any who come here representing combinations or monopolists |
