Show SHE DREW A GUN Social Sensation That Stirs Up Park City But the Gun Was Empty I A scene of wild excitement occurred on Park avenue on Saturday evening at an early hour when Mrs Eliza Spencer Spen-cer assaulted William Bombard who was walking with Miss Etta Foster drawing a gun on him and making him think she meant murder Miss Foster fainted so the writer is informed and Mr Bombard ran down the street towards the electric light works making mak-ing side jumps and begging for his life at every step Mrs Spencer pressed him hard holding the gun in her hand and calling on him to stop or she would shoot Dan Martin ran alongside the woman and succeeded in snatching the pistol from her when he turned it over to Policeman Muldoon who had hur Tied to the scene of excitement The gun was examined and found to be empty on the announcement of which I a roar of laughter broke from all present entMr Mr Bombard demanded that the woman be arrested and she was taken to the city hall where Joseph Fares soon appeared and put up the amount of bail required and she was released Monday she was tried for disturbing the peace and fined 5 The story behind the trouble as told by Mrs Spencer is that Bombard was the cause of separating herself and husband and is the father of her youngest child When thrown upon her own resources for a livelihood she importuned Bombard to do something for the support of his child and he refused re-fused point blank claimed it wasnt his and refused to recognize her treating treat-ing her with silent contempt This exasperated i ex-asperated her very much and she began be-gan to grieve over the perfidy of the man whom she had trusted and for whom she had sacrificed so much Saturday Sat-urday morning she mailed a letter to Mr Bombard telling him that if he did not come and see her at once and make proper provision for the child she would make trouble for him She learned Saturday afternoon that Bombard Bom-bard had gotten the letter from the postoffice and felt satisfied that he did not intend to call so when she saw him on the street with Miss Foster she became angry and decided to give him a good scare She succeeded thoroughly thorough-ly l and the only wonder to her is that his hair did not turn gray Mrs Spencer Spen-cer also said that she had instituted suit in the Third district court to compel com-pel Bombard to provide for the child and says that the boys remarkable resemblance re-semblance to Mr Bombard is ample proof of its paternity All she wants is justice done to the child Mr Bombard denies the whole stor > of being the cause of separating the woman and her husband and of being the father of the child and claims that the woman has been common property for several years all of which he says can be proven As the matter now stands the dispute will be settled in the courts and hos tilities have ceased until the matter comes up for trial Park City Record |
