Show UfAll AT THE PAIR I The Worlds fair commissioners have begun work in earnest and with their wellknown ability energy and determination tion it may bo said with safety that the project is a ago and Utah will be fairly I represented at thn rrrent exhibition not withstanding the gloomy outlook when the l legislature adjourned The late Assembly having voted 50000 for the purpose that sum having been agreed upon after a pretty thorough canvass of the larger taxpayers tax-payers and after a reasonable inquiry as to the probable cost of making such maltng sucl an exhibit ex-hibit as would be fairly representative of the territorys resources the commissioners commission-ers assume that tho next legislature will be equally generous and appropriate the same amount Wo think this presumption is well enough founded and are certain that the money will bo freely voted by the legislature of ISO The proposition prop-osition advanced by the commission is that the banks shall advance this money as a loan to the territory certain citizens terrLor citzens guaranteeing guar-anteeing payment Of course the plan will be a success inasmuch as the only risk taken by anybody will be by the men who guarantee the loan and that risk will be slight indeed in the light of the fact the taxpayers without regard to politics poltics approved ap-proved the 50000 appropriation and want the territory to appear to good advantage ut the fair As soon as the money shall be secured the Commission will formulate a plan of operations by which the I peratons work can be assigned as-signed In detail and the machinery put into motion There will be just a year in whiuh to do the work and that will be plenty of time provided the labor shall be properly apportioned Everybody is personally interested in-terested and uf course all will do what they can to collect a display which will fairly represent tho territory and attract attention to the vast resources of Utah Everybody will also feel a sense of pride in having Utah lead in her exhibit THE HERALD expects to be able within avery a-very few days to say that committees and boards nave been appointed and the real work of preparing for tho fair has begun in earnest |
