| Show THE TURF CONGRESS A New Set of Rules Governing Races Adnn ed ST Louis Mo Nov 10Tho American Turf Congress concluded Its labors today Among the new rules ere the following No jockey who is a direct or indirect owner of a horse in training will be allowed to I ride any horse other than his own A jockey riding in a race is prohibited from I betting on any horse except his own mount The valet system is abolished and in lieu thereof each club will jockey wi furnish a corps of attendants for jockeys Horses which have no possible chance to get place must be ridden out and tho word Place be construed to mean one two three Attention is paid to the habit of betting indulged in by assistant starters and in future any official connected with the running run-ning of a race will be ruled off for making a bet When horses carry incorrect weight the bets on them will not be affected by objections made after the race provided they carry the weights printed on the pragrammo or posted on the notice board When two horses are coupled as an entry in betting to run into consecutive places they will be considered a unit and the backers will receive re-ceive only one money I horses distance the field in tie first heat racebook makers will be required to refund all place money When unfounded accusations are made against officials owners or others connected con-nected with racing the offender will be ruled off the turf |
