Show SALE QF INTOXICANTS THE BILL TO PREVENT MINORS FROM GETTING THEM The Measure Ity Brcetlen to Create the Ofllce of Attorney General The Militia Bill The Silk Bill i In the line of the proposed moral reform re-form legislation a bill introduced by Breeden takes precedent I reads as follows A Bill for an Act to Prevent the Sale of Intoxicating Drinks to Students and Minors and to Prevent Their Being Permitted Per-mitted t Play at Games of Chance Where Such Drinks are Sold and to Prevent Cigarettes form Being Sold or Given to Minors I I Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative Assembly of the Territory Terri-tory of Utah Sec 1 That it shall not be lawful for any person by himself his clerk or agent to permit any student in attendance at-tendance at any public or private institution in-stitution of learning in this territory or any minor under the age of twenty one 21 years of age to play at cards dice or billiards or any game of chance in any part of any building in which spirituous liquors or intoxicating intoxi-cating drinks are sold nor shall it be lawful for any person by himself his clerk or agent to sell or give to any student in attendance at any public or private institution of learning in this territory or any minor any spirituous or intoxicating drinks except when prescribed by a regular physician for medical purposes Nor shall it be lawful law-ful for any person or persons whomsoever whom-soever to sell give or furnish to any I minor cigarettes cigarette paper or cigarette wrappers in this territory And any person who shall offend against either of the foregoing provisions pro-visions of this act shall be deemed to have been guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars dol-lars nor less than twentyfive dollars onehalf of which shall be paid into the public school fund of the county in which the offence was committed and the other pnehalf shall be paid to the person or persons securing conviction con-viction See 2 That all acts or parts of acts in conflicti herewith are hereby repealed re-pealed and this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its approval S I |
