gaily t YI 1 giddy The lovers t r lov-ers of pleasure hare taken nor kl no-r l4 11 trouble to rest i 4ti t There is to be an endless round of pleasures for the season promises to be an unusually merry one having opened most brilliantly The inauguration of the indoor dancing season > on Thursday evening last at the Manitou by Messrs J M Bidwell R J Glendinning H S Lyman S H Fields jr Grant Hampton and S C Park was a most brilliant success It was a happy thought to select the Manitou for its home arrangement rich and warm furnishings its excellent dancing floor and its many cosy camera gave opportunity for rest and conversation between dances Thou too there was ample space to place tables for those who cared nothing for tripping the light fantastic that they might indulge in cards The handsome and elegant matrons who gave their names nnd presence to the function lent a dignity all their own Mrs C IV Lyman was gowned in black gauze a pretty little white star flower to light it Mrs G Y Wallace in rich yellow brocade bro-cade embellished with overdrapings of black tulle embroidered in gold diamonds Mrs J B Boggs wore cream crepe flowered in green a velvet bodice of green velvet filled in with the pure cream crepe with the same material for sleeves Mrs R Harkness cadet blue silk and black lace diamond jewels A cluster of roses was carried in her hand Mrs W S McCornicks toilet was of gray and black diamonds Mrs S Woodward was in black crepe brightened by cut Jot a rare and dainty necklace cf rubies and diamonds lovely white roses and black feather fan Mrs S A Bailey in black crepe Mrs Ellsworth Daggett was daintiness itself in a filmy ivory India silk mull which threw out her beauty to perfection The delicate folds of the corsage were held by an artistic arrangement of diamonds and opals ivory kid gloves and boots completed this dress poem Miss Webber Black silk en train overdress over-dress of black lace confined ut the waist by yellow satin ribbons yellow ribbons in the hair the brilliant nasturtium being especially especi-ally effective at the corsage a Spanish fan of yellow spangled black gloves Miss Eterlyn Webber was in a pink crepe gown en traine lady but echoed the thought of all when she said On my return re-turn home I had to but shut my eyes to think I had been to fairy land1J On Wednesday Mrs C E Wantland opened her hospitable doors in honor of her guest Miss Hamilton The new homo is furnished with rare artistic skill and the additional decoration of the sunflower in everynook and corner that a finished taste coula suggest but gave an added brilliancy bril-liancy to tne scene Miss Hamilton in an ivorytinted toilet of Hag texture which very well set off her Spanish blonde type looked supremely happy as she welcomed her host of friends ana it did one good to see how genuine it all was Two hundred of tne elite were received within the three hours all being in their handsomest attire Mrs Wantland with I an experienced eye was alive to the wants of her guests and was ably assisted in the I diningroom by Mrs Egbert Roberts becomingly be-comingly attired in black chiffon Miss I Edna Shearman who looked quite stately I in her receptions recep-tions was that of Miss Melia Weiler and Mr Heber S Cutler at the homo of the bride The marriage took place at Logan on Wednesday and the reception was in Salt Lake on Thursday evening at S oclock The grounds were beautifully lighted with Japanese lanterns It was a homo affair only relatives and close friends being asked The bride received the congratulations of those present in a bangaline silk en train of an exquisite pearl color pearl colored kid gloves and shoes She carried a cluster of oridea roses tied with white satin ribbon and rosebuds were in her hair She is tall and looked very stately in her bridal robe The attendants were the Misses Sue Riter and Late Currie The latter wore a lovely white Bilk en train and carried pink roses Miss Riter was gowned in a ceil blue silk en train a cluster of pink roses wore her flowers Mr Jake Weiler was best man Miss Weilers parents were pioneers coming here in ISm and Mr Cutlers family fam-ily is an old one also consequently they have here a large circle of relatives as well as friends The collation was spread in the dining room upon a table beautilully decorated with ferns and smilax Artistic bunches of many colored astors gave warmth and color producing a very beautiful appearance appear-ance The large brides cake in the center was garnished at tho top with brides roses Mrs Weiler received the guests asasited by her daughter Miss Edith who looked charming in a simple dotted swiss cut round at the throat and edged with a fall of dainty lace satin bows at the shoulders gave a pretty finish to the becoming be-coming toilet and she received the quests with engaging cordiality An elaborate and delicious supper was served by Mrs Johnson and consisted of Oyster Patttcs Olives 03st1 Chicken Veal L 1tes Bread and Butter Salad Snowilalto Wafers Olives Salted Almonds Ice Cream and Ices Cake Coffee Claret Punch A great number of superb presents wore received completely filling one room and among them was a Beldin and Whitehall tveref invited to meet her and it was a raro treat to witness tile occasion Mrs Carter had I brightened her large cheerful dining room with the prairie queon and preparea a early and was very quiet being known only to a few relatives I and intimate friends The gentleman is a wellknown stockman of New York state and is extensively engaged in the cattle business He bus relatives in Omaha whither the newly joined coupLu started about an hour after the nuptial ceremony was performed to bo gone several sev-eral weeks Mrs Murphy is so well known in this city that words of praise in her behalf be-half from us would appear sentences of supererogation May the union be a happy ana prolonged one Two of thtt ladys children accompanied her Eddie H to IO to school in Chicago and Mamie to attend tho G A R festivities at Washington and also to visit relatives in New York and Massachusetts Mrs Russell Coe Woodruff and Miss Blanche Kimball entertained a party of
