Show j I f A member of the Ohio Legislature i having introduced a bill providing that the legal representatives of a person lynched may recover 115000 damages from the county in which the lynching I lynch-ing occurred the Pittsburgh Dispatch Rep says Public sentiment may be weak on the subject of lynching in the South but no such claim can be made in the Northern states and every crime of the kind is an outrage on the common sense of right and justice The Ohio idea therefore while not radical will no doubt meet with general approval ap-proval as a step in the direction of making these murders comparatively rare in the North and there is no doubt that its genral adoption would i do much towards preventing these stains upon the national character in future < |
