Show LYING IN STATE The Body of General Crook The Services The Honary 1all Bearers CHICAGO March 22The body of General Gener-al Crook is lying in state in one of the parlors par-lors of the Grand Pacific hotel clad in the full uniform of his rank and with tho national nat-ional flag draped over the casket on which also are placed the chapeau and sword of the deceased warrior Since the parlors wero opened to tho public this morning there has been a great throng present anxious t view the remains re-mains Mrs Crook was quite ill last night and this morning from nervous prostration but is much improved this afternoon A great many telegrams of condolence have been reehe from prominent peopio indifferent in-different nortions of the country Funeral services will take place tomorrow tomor-row at 1 oclock Rev McPherson of the Second Presbyterian church officiating assisted by Rev Dr Locke Rev Dr Tho inas and Prof Ewing After services the procession will move t the Baltimore Ohio depot Tho procession will be compost com-post 1 ef the police first and second of a portion the Fourth regiment infantry I Illinois National guard Battery D Illinois National guard members of the Loyal legion and a number of members of the Grand Army of the Republic The funeral car will be attached to the 253 train and will roach Oakland Md at 10 oclock Monday Mon-day There the interment will be private Members of General Crooks staff will ebers stf wi accompany ac-company the remains together with six noncommissioned officers detailed from Fort Sheridan The list of honorary pallbearers bearers at tomorrows seovices is as fo 1 lows Colonels Wade and Stanton Generals Morgans and Williams U S A John Collins Col-lins of Omaha Generals Sooy Smith Potter Pot-ter Palmer exPresident R B Hayes Marshall Field Colonel J B Sexton Judge R S Suthill Mayor D C Crepier John B Drake P E Studebaker J T Rank Lawrence George Dunlap Judge W Gresham John B Carson General W E Strong John M Clark W Penn Nixon H J McFarland and O D Roys General i Schoficld ha been ordered to take command com-mand of the department of the Missouri in conjunction with his present command until further orders General Sehofield will remain in the east |
