Show A PUBLIC MEETING Under the Auspices of the Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce AT THE FEDERAL OURT ROOM T o Discuss Matters Pertaining to the Welfare Wel-fare Growth and Prosperity of Salt Lake At a meeting of the chamber of commerce held last evening It was decided to call a meet ng of all the citizens of Salt Lake city inter sted in the welfare growth and prcsperity of the city at the federal court room on next Mon d ay evening at S oclock While the meeting Is undor the auspices of thc chamber of commerce every citizen with ho welfare of the city at heart is invited to take part In the meeting that the public sentiment of the city at large may be had on questions of Ital importance CIIA3IBEII OF COMMERCE I In the absence of President West VicePre dent Fred Simon presided over the delibera tons of the chamber of commerce with com mendable business while Secretary Gillespie kept the meeting sagacity at work with many plans for the good of Salt Lake The appeal of Camas prairie for aid after suf ring with the grasshopper plague afer tvo years was presented by the secretary Presi dent Simon said he never knew a charitable ppeal to be made to the people of Salt Lake mhoutan immediate resuouse and that when the news of the Johnstown flood flashed over the wires the food fashed wirlr message was answered by a dona tiw ion of from eight to nine thousand dollars It was decided to appoint u committee of I eaded by President Simon and the chamber o f commerce headed the list with a 530 subscrip ton subscrp ionCaptain Captain Davis presented his scheme of a 2000 pleasure boat for the lake and the cham h er passed a resolution endorsing any practical project for rlacing a boat on the prctcal would be of great advantage to this city The secretary was instructed to close a con tr act with the Western emmigratlon bueau of Chicago for one years advertising at 1600 the eal estate exchange to bear onethird of the xpense Messrs Rickotts Wicks and Sells committee o n excursions were instructed to meet a like 1ee ommittee of the real estate exchange at 2 S clock tomorrow afternoon |
