He said the main distribution line from the Farmington station is "sitting at 400 East and Pages Lane just waiting to be hooked into." MR. MAGNESS said the first area in Bountiful to be served will be from the north city limits to about 1000 North. Progress Prog-ress will then continue south until the entire city is completed. He noted that the main trunk line will follow 400 East (Orchard Drive) through the width of the city and sub-trunk lines will extend east and west off of the main line. "WE'LL WORK BOTH east and west of the main line as we progress through the city." said Mr. Magness. "Hopefully, we will be able to complete about 20 miles per day during the peak construction time." There are about 120 miles of overhead' line and 33 miles of underground lines to be strung throughout the city. OVERHEAD LINES will be strung on the same poles, and just below current power lines, while underground lines will be strung in the current conduits that sere electrical power to the city, it was explained. ex-plained. "And it won't be long until all south Davis Count y communities have cable television." tele-vision." said Mr. Magness. "Work was started in Farmington last week, much of Woods Cross is already completed, and West Bountiful. North Salt Lake and Centerville Cen-terville are not far behind." HE EXPLAINED, however, that these communities won t be able to "hookup" until the main line is completed through Bountiful. Meanwhile, some northern Davis County Coun-ty communities will be seeing cable television televi-sion in their homes as soon as mid-March, according to Mr. Magness. The Clearfield-Sunset Clearfield-Sunset area is about 80 percent completed and the Layton-Kaysville area should be ready for cable TV in their homes within the next few months. MR. MAGNESS said it has been a long, hard struggle getting to this point. "Personnel 1 have worked with have been very cooperative, but there are just a lot of problems to work out . It all takes a lot of time." he said. HE NOTED THAT the contract signed with Bountiful calls for a completion date in May, but this will have to be extended. City officials said they realize that many of the problems encountered by the television company have not been their fault and "w e are just happy to be so close to gettir cable TV." Cost of the cable TV ranges from a minimum mini-mum of $7.50 for 14 channels to $?V40 for a deluxe package of 16 channels including showtime and HBO. said Mr. Magness. |
