Show National Union Loan Fend WASHINGTON Feb 8The creation of the National Union Loan Fund is I the object of a bill Introduced today by Representative Repre-sentative Otis of Kansas This fund is tq t consist of 2000000 or as much as may bo necessary legal tender paper money to be Issued by the secretary of the treasury and nterchanzeablo at par with other kinds of awful money of the United States Any state desiring to avail itscif of its benefits may do so by the adoption of a joint resolution resolu-tion setting forth the state agrees to pay to the United States 1 per cent per annum on all sums drawn and retained by It and pro vidinc for the loan of money to its citizens upon reasonable security at interest not ex ceedinc 3 per cent The secretary is to honor the request for a loan to tie extent of 50 per cent of the assessed value of real estate situated within the state Senator Proctor has introduced a bill authorizing the enlistment in the regular army of 3000 Indians under the same conditions con-ditions the government makes tbe enlistment enlist-ment of other persons the strength of the army to be increased to that extent |
