| Show Coming School Election A school election will be held Monday next the object of which is to give the I taxpayers of Ogden an opportunity to I authorize the issuance of 100000 bonds for the improvement of the public schools mIn m-in turn to reject any proposition of that b nature Since tho opening of the schools last September the board has found it necessary neces-sary to rent rooms for school purposes ad ditional buildings have been erected and I besides rooms in the city hall have been occupied The city enumeration shows that there arc 3300 children of school ages in tho city and the actual monthly enrollment enroll-ment in rented buildings is 2000 > pupils I The board of education complains that the old school buildings are poorly arranged I as to ventilation and light and as light heat and ventilation are three essential 1 I sanitary requirements to the physical and mental welfare of children they wish to bo I empowered with the privilege asked 0 f the money expended for building at least I twothirds of the amount will be spent for labor etc among our own citizens thus keeping a large sum in circulation at horns I Tho bonds will bear a low rate of interest inter-est and the entire annual expense for the whole 100000 would be only about 25 I cents for each citizen of Ogden The present expenditure for rents is I nearly twofifths of the interest that would ucrue on the 100030 bonds Much interest will most likely be taken I at the polls on Monday |
