Show o The German Baptist WABASH Ind May 22A business session of the National German Baptist Conference at North Manchester opened this morning The committee on church property reported that they hud been retarded in the prosecution of their work bv a lack of funds with which to make investigations They recommended that the cnurch be duly incorporated according to law so that the brotherhood may own real and personal per-sonal property This question was reported re-ported back to the committee In answer to an application of Mr Straw on behalf of the Womens Christian Temperance Union the standing committee offered the following follow-ing The cause of temperance should solicit the energies and prayers of every Christian heart and the deliver ances of our general conference far over one hundred years present au unbroken un-broken record on the subject and against the use of intoxicants < in this average The temperance cause still has our united prayers yet after considering con-sidering your request this committee unanimously decides that We cannot open our tabernacle for the use of an association and the discussion of questions ques-tions not directly connected with the object of our conference Foreign missions representing work in Sweden and Denmark were reported Twentyeight members have been added one house erected and new fields opened The Texas mission and mission mis-sion work in Missouri and Arkansas were shown to be flourishing there having been seventyseven additions to the church Idaho and Florida reported faorably |
