They were receipients of a plaque in recognition of the 15 years they have spent as foster parents. Dorothy was also presented with a colorful pin, featuring the numbers "76" in colors of red, white, and blue, and jewels. Edwin C. Brown, dean of the Graduate School of Social Work, at the University, delivered the keynote address ad stressed the need of understanding un-derstanding foster children's needs. Joe and Dorothy commented com-mented on the floral arrangements on the table, on the friendliness of Mr. Warshaw, who sponsored the banquet, and the friendliness of the guests from the House of Representatives and of the Senate who were in attendance. atten-dance. Sunday the Kirtons Kir-tons visited in Springville and attended the confirmation services of young Marie Erekson, daughter of their long-time friends, the Gene Ereksons. The birds weren't the only species who were coming and going during the week. Charlotte Hayes journeyed to Monterrey Park, Calif., to visit with her mother, Virginia Vir-ginia Van Leeuwen. Husband Ray stayed at home to tend the young ones and to "tend the home fires." Charmaine Blanco and family enjoyed entertaining Charmaine's sister, Darla Farha. She journeyed to town from Wichita, Kanasa. She came to visit with Charmaine and her mother, Mimi Thomas, who had a stroke recently. She seems to be improving. Darla will be back to visit in April. Kathy Alder, daughter of the former Bishop Lawrence Alders, will be feted at a grocery shower tonight, at the home of the Ron Bangerters. Hostesses for the party will be Carol and Vonnie Bangerter. Kathy is looking forward to an April wedding, when she will be married to Kenneth John- son, son of the Lynn John-' sons. Last Saturday, the Irvin C. Laytons and the J. Irvin Lay-tons Lay-tons went down to Granger to help to celebrate the birthday of Bud's and Helen's son, Jim Layton. During this week Helen's mother, Mrs. Mary Ellen Gunn, who is 81 years old, has been staying at the Layton home, trying to recover from illness. |
