Show From Franklin On Sunday and Monday last the quarterly conference of Oneida Stake was held at Franklin On the stand were the Stake presidency George C Parkinson Solomon H Hale and Mathias F Cowley also President John Morgan from Salt Lake City and President George Pitkin of Cache Valley Stake and N V Kimball and Elder Bayie also a great many of the bishops We had an excellent conference con-ference All the speakers were blessed with a great portion of the spirit of God President Morgan was full of instructions in-structions He showed the great advantage ad-vantage that our children have in being taught in the academies for there they are instructed in all the branches of education and also taught the ways of God and the glorious plan of redemption redemp-tion All the brethren who spoke were inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and the Saints felt to thank the Lord for the good instructions that they had received re-ceived President George sC Parkinson said in the beginning of the conference that be and his counsel had visited all the branches in the strike and found the saints on the increase We had large attendance considering consider-ing the cold weather A creat many strangers came from afar and were well repaid On Tuesday morning the presidency the bishop and President Morgan visited the families of the brethren who are now in prison and also the families of the missionaries and cheered them up by their presence and good and kind advice On Monday night the Franklin Dra oiatc Association gave an entertainment entertain-ment in the Social Hall and presented the beautiful drama entitled British Bjru which was well rendered and gave good satisfaction On the next morning a young man died very suddenly He attended the theatre went home and in the morning he was found lying on the floor dead Dr Ormaby cama up from Logan with Mr 0 D Beech the young mans j brother A coroners inquest was held and after the examination of several witness who last saw him and also after the examination of Dr Ormsby who pronounced the cause of his death to be congestion of the heart the jury brought in a verdict that he came to his death by natural causes which was congestion of the heart The young mans name was Orville Gillet Beech He had been a kind son tD his widowed mother He was taken to Logan to be buried On January 31 the Harry Taylor Company played in Franklin the drama Not Guilty to a full house He gave good satisfaction N FRAnKLIN Idaho Feb 1st 1889 |
