Show FINANCE AND MINING The Holiday Trade is Now Fairly I Booming 1 t LEAD REMAINS STATIONARY Silver Declines a TrifleTrade In the East and at HomeOre and Bullion Output The Mines The holiday trade is fairly upon us The big trade enjoyed by our merchants for many months past has increased to such an extent as to make it absolutely necessary to greatly enlarge the force of clerks employed em-ployed in each establishment At all of the establishments where what are known as holiday goods are kept the daily scenes are such as must be appreciated by the merchants who have laid in heavy stocks in anticipation of a big demand There is every reason to believe that the holiday trade of 1SS9 will be at least 40 percent per-cent in advance of any other year in our history The building boom lets up not a whit as will have been noticed from our columns during the past week The preparations for next years work are of such a magnitude magni-tude as to inspire the fullest confidence in all There is not an architect in the city but who has enough work on hand to keep him busily engaged until next Christmas rolls around The produce market is reported as very lively the only drawback being that dealers deal-ers are sometimes unable to supply the demand de-mand The mining stock market is depressed but few shares changing hands |
