Show The Washington Territory Convention OLTJiriA W Tt July l9In the convention conven-tion today a memorial was presented from the Olympia boar of trade praying that corporations should only be formed under a general law and all corporations doing business in the state should have a public office here that all books of the company shall be open to inspection by the stockholders stock-holders or a legislative committee that railroads should b allowed to cross each other and forced t exchange freight and passengers and perform service at reasonable reason-able rates but that otherwise corporations should be treated liberally so as to encourage encour-age capital to invest in the state A number of other memorials were presented pre-sented and some committee reports heard The judiciary committee reported an amendment that two of the judges of the supreme court shall be elected for three years two for five and one for seven years Laid over until tomorrow The convention in committee of the whole then considered Other sections The judiciary others article was adopted and several It was practically settled by the committee commit-tee on corporations other than municipal that a clause will be inserted in the constitution consti-tution forbidding the granting of subsidies of any kind from counties or towns to railroads or other corporations A strong lobby has been opposing this |
