Show They Are Pleased CHICAGO January ItThe only important im-portant western lines not represented at the New York meeting of railway presidents and bankers were the Chicago Chi-cago Alton and Illinois Central Both President Blackstone of the Illinois Central and VicePresident McMullin of the Chicago s Alton said today that they regarded the plan as a good one although they were not quite ready to say they would sign it They were ready to maintain rates under any schema that may be proposed but the peculiar position which the Chicago Alton occupies by force of circumstances circum-stances on the question of paying commissions com-missions may prevent it from endorsing the provisions which prohibit the payment pay-ment of commissions General Manager Man-ager affrays of the Illinois Central Railway approved of the presidents and as the road had strictly obeyed the provision of the interstate law frcm the time it became effective he was glad to see other roads decide on pursuing pur-suing the same policy |
