Show SONS OF AIffRICA AMRICA The Principles and Aims of this Patriotic Order THE BLOODY FOOT OX TiE FLOOR The Footprints in the CarIsonxCottace The Arrest ODonovan Eossa The Cronin Grand Jurr French Citizenship WASHINGTON June 20At the afternoon after-noon session of the Patriotic Sons of America the following was prepared for the press In view o the tact that the principles of this order and the tobjects of its existence have not been properly presented and inasmuch as an incident connected with the presidential reception has boen misrepresented this national camp requests a fair and impartial consideration of our dedication of principles princi-ples Article 1 Next to the love of our Creator we believe that patriotism is the highest and noblest affection of the human soul We believe that the institutions of no country are safe without patriotic reasons and that none will so jealously guard and protect them a those who n born and reared under their influence We believe that we have the best form of government for the masses on tho face of the earth Article 2 Tho wealth prosperity and liberty of American citizens andtheir descendants des-cendants we desire to protect as well as our form of government and preserve intact from the influence of any foreign power by disseminating dissemi-nating sentiments of loyalty and patriot ism by the establishment of a fraternal feeling of devotion to the country amongst all Americans We hope to make it impossible impos-sible for any one to live under the protection protec-tion of the stars and stripes who does not honor and revere and who would nOL be willing to give up his life in defense of the principles of freedom and justice which it represents Art 3 We desire to sustain the purity of the ballot and have it intelligently and legitimately used Art 4 We believe our system of free public schools is but the work of our liberty and we insist that they be kept absolutely free from all ecclesiastical and sectarian influence I in-fluence and under tho influence of local secular officers elected by the people Art 5 We cordially welcome all those foreigners who come to this coutry with the honest desire of becoming loyal American citzensand who sincerely disavow any and all allegiance to any foreign potentates and trovernmeuts and who honor and revere our national flag Art t We are opposed t tho occupancy occu-pancy > of any part of our land by foreign speculators or adventurers who do not wish to become citizens and we believe that all the resources and privileges of this country should be reserved for its citizens either native or naturalized Art 7 We are in favor of crushing OUT tnat wnicn is already nero anu 01 taking measures which will prohibit from entrance into our ports in tho future that foreign element which comes sere to advocate advo-cate Communism and Nihilism und which does not identify itself witbour cOuuUv and does not respect our flag v Art S We invite all nati horn citizens cit-izens who believe in their country and its institutions and who desire to perpetuate free government and who wish t encourage en-courage brotherly feelings t Americans to the end that we may invito them t our rock of fellowship and love wo call especial espe-cial attention to those reporters who have styled us KnowNothiugs ac1 AntiCath olics to Article 5 and quote frx > m our official of-ficial expose We have no quarrel with any man on account of any t ationality or religion but we wish to accTd equal justice jus-tice to all American citizens j The article from the address of our national president so extensively copied requires no apology and this order in national assembly convene declars that there is no room in a republican form of government for any organization which advocates and practices murder and assassination assas-sination and we believe that every intel igent citizen native or foreign born who has read the evidence presented to the coroners jury of Chicago relative to the Cronin murder has felt this to be true and that their existence is a constant menace to our government The badge incident so sensationally characterized as Burchardlsm is a misrepresentation mis-representation Our reception by the President was cordial and gratifying to the members of this order iratting |
