Show THE DEAF MUTES The Free Institution for Their Education This is a public institution waer all persons of school age whose hearing is so defective as make special teachers and special methods necessary for their instruction are to be admitted It is practically a free school and none need be prevented from obtaining admission by lack of means as by the liberality of the Legislature provision has been made for the benefit of indigent deaf mutes Board lodging washing etc furnished free of charge Books and clothing are not furnished free to the pupils All the various branches of a common school education are taught with good results All deaf mutes between be-tween the ages of 6 years and 30 will be admitted they must be sound in body and mind or otherwise they will not be admitted as this is only a school not an infirmary or a ho ° pitil for the cure of bodily or mental weakness weak-ness nessA good home with the best of influences in-fluences and care has been established es-tablished in connection with the University for the benefit the pupils while attending school Any one who knows of the existence of any uneducated deaf mutes in Utah would do well in the cause of humanity human-ity to report such cases to the president of the University or the principal of tbe Deaf Mute Institute All letters of inquiry should be addressed to Dr J R Pars the president Every effort will be made to admit every applicant who is in any way fit for an education educa-tion The best way in all cases would be to bring the deaf mutes to the institute insti-tute at the earliest opportunity p C 1 r |
