primaries of the live city precincts were held last evening as per announcement announce-ment and the large turnouts at the various var-ious places of meeting show the increase interest in things nominations and unanimity una-nimity of action when the ticket was mate up The evils thought by many to have existed in tho past should be ventilated before be-fore the ticket was made up and not after Mr J H Paul responded to a call for asp a-sp ech In referring to the Peoples party in the First precinct he said it could not hope to elect a councilman as the repre seutatives of our great government had tacked us on to a foreign section thirty live miles away over the high mountains but tho precinct was sanguine of electing its representative to the lower house which in his opinion Driggs Jr Isaac Barton From Twentysecond Ward Andraw Kimball J L Nebeker Samuel Holmes Fourth Precinct There was a large and a lively turnout at the Twentieth ward schoolhouse and on he stroke ofeight the meeting was called to order Franklin S Richards was chosen as chairman and Jos W Maynes as secretory tory The call of the territorial central committee was then read Air Sharp moved that it bo the sense of this meeting that each of the three school districts com irising in this precinct the 18th 20th and list Twentyfirst wardbo allotted two delegates and that each district nominate its own mencarried Mr Caino moved that the members of each of tho three wards congregate together in different parts of the house to confer as to their choice This was carried and tho voters from the three wards who were present in about oiual numbers roth ed to confer In a few minutes order was again called and the following nominations were made to the county convention From the Eighteenth District H Owen W W Williams Alternates W G Westwood Thomas Moss For the thirteenth delegate at large tho following nominations were made James Sharp by Hon John T Caine Mr Caine by Mr Sharp Thomas Goodman by Mr Williams There were cries of each name from various parts of the house and the vote being taken first on Mr Goodman that gentleman was handsomely defeated by a combination of the Eighteen and Twentieth wards against the Twenty first There were then shouts of Caine Sharp Sharp Caino Mr Caine tried to decline but was shouted down The vote on Mr Sharp was then taken me that gentleman was elected amid applause Adjournment was then taken There was a general lively interest and the attendance was the heaviest seen at a primary of the precinct for years At the Fifth Precinct There was a
