Show SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION The Regular Monthly Meeting on Monday The adjourned monthly meeting of theSunday School superintendents and teachers of Salt Lake County was held Monday evening in the Social Hall The singing exercises were attended toby to-by thJ Seventh Ward choir under the direction of Wm H Foster Opening prayer offered 4 > y George Whittaker After calling the roll the minutes of the last meeting were read over and accepted ac-cepted Tuos H WOODBURY Sn gave a brief report of the present condition of the Seventh Ward Sunday School The order of exercises are commenced punctually punc-tually at 10 oclock with singing and prayer After the administration of the sacrament the roll of teachers is called thoseihaving come in before prayer being recordtd as early while those comim in afterwards are marked I late Beginning promptly every possible delay is avoiaed so as to close I the school punctually An oral class I is one special feature Deportment is I endeavored to be another important item After the benediction all become I seated and while music is being produced pro-duced on the organ the doors are I opened and dismissal commenced by the smallest children leaving first I jNtf E COWLEY ot the Seventh I Wardjoelivered an address on the sub I leo of the person character and attributes attri-butes of God making references to the creeds of the Christian world who e1 Oia hei dd believe in an immaterial God the marked distinction between their faith or belief and that of the Latterday Saints was commented on The Saints believe in a God who has a perfect boJy full of knowledge and power who can hear and answer prayer God made man in His own image as recorded re-corded in the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible Numerous passages of scripture were quoted substantiating substanti-ating the belief in the actual personification personi-fication of God as also the attributes and character of God He is merciful andgracious slow to anger and full of all goodness He is the same yesterday today and forever God is no respecter of persons hut full of love and charity All powerful He is full of justicemercy and truth Correct ideas concerning the person character and attributes of I God is of the most vital importance to be taught in all Sabbath schools Miss ANNIE PETERSON > ang All together to-gether Again with chorus by the choir Miss SARAn EDINGTON made a brief address on the duties of Sunday Schpol teachers Some excellent ideas were tersely advanced showing that all teachers must have a definite object in their purpose and make their labors one of love purity and humility are essential characteristics ot a good teacher who educates pupils bymoral xample more than by precept A portion por-tion of an address of Superintendent Geo Q Cannon at a Sunday School Vnion conference was read Assistant Superintendent R S Home read a question which had been handed in for answer What do you consider the best method to adopt with delinquent delin-quent teachers Superintendent George Goddard suggested sug-gested that the appointment for each year as a mission of the most Suitable persons for each position as teachers fie thought would create an interest with every teacher that all were of equal importance to Sunday School SOFT WILLES made some remarks on the same subject It was proposed as the intention to hereafter have congregational singing as part of the music at the monthly meetings under the direction of Thos Mcintyre in addition to the music to be furnished the ward choirs SUPT JOHN C CUTLER said that he would in answer to the question have delinquent teachers inquired intoasto the cause of their dissatisfaction and if they could not attend to hand in their resignations After some general business had been transacted the request was made that the Eighth Ward furnish the opening and closing music for the next meeting and that Andrew Smith of that ward deliver an address on the life of Alma Adjourned for one month to meet at 7 pm The choir sang an anthem and benediction bene-diction was pronounced by ames Woods |
