Show GrandYalleyJRaE E GUN aSON Co Col Oct 1 1882 Editors Herald t Thinking that a few lines from this out of the way place would be interesting to your many readers I I take the liberty of writing This is cailed the garden of Colorado bu I I pity the unlucky ones that settle in the bad places of Colorado if this is the best The valley is about twentyfive miles long by five to seven wide and if all the grass was I collected onto one square mile it would make tolerable grazing for I twentyfive head of stock There has not been rain enough in the last year to start thegrass but still there is some good land and plenty of water The country from here west to the Wasatch Range is one bleak desert The Denver Rio Grande track is now within forty miles of here and coming west at the rate of a mile a day The grading will be done to the Utah line by the first of December if the ears get through to Salt Lake by the first of next March they will do well The HERALD is a welcome visitor at our camp TV H MILum |
