Show 1 K JB I p > The siellCIalmea t Assassins of i t Cavendish and Burke I New Yorkll A special dispatch I from Dublin says the following aroclammation has been issued by I the IrishRepublican Brotherhood < GOD SAVE IRELAND DUBLIN May To the Irish People and all Lovers k of Liberty Particularly to Our Brothers of the IrishRepublican j tfr 1 Brotherhood anib Kindred Organ izations i As there seems a grave misunderstanding misunder-standing as to the aim and scope of t the late executions at Dublinwe the executive of the IrishRepublican I Brotherhood hereby request all t the aforesaid to withhold i their opinion of this matter 9 J for the present and refrain from expressions j ex-pressions of sympathy at public meetings which tend to humiliate I Ireland and give aid and comfort p to England As to the monster Burke he had preyed on the lives and liberties of his countrymen for many years and had deserved death a thousand times at our hands and as to Lord Frederick Cavendish lineal decendant of the famous Lord Brougham who hanged the gallant and patriotic Mace Agan bishop I of Ross at Carrigadroid because k he would not betray his country Vt his very name stinks in the nostrils of the Irish people by the iniquities of his brother Lord Hartington and the wholesale evictions of his fathe 1 the Duke of Devonshire thereby t driving thousands of the rightful owners of the soil to the poorhouse poor-house to exile and to death This I organization has tolerated the vagaries vaga-ries Parnell and his safe treason mongers until he has filled the bas tiles of our country with victims of a useless parliamentary agitation which left 20000 persons homeless last year and drove millions of the flower of our people to exile This l ceases to be harmless when a truce is made by which he himself and 4 his friends are allowed to go fre and eighty of Irelands bravest sons care c-are left to languish in the prison to be exiled or assassinated and these men who by socalled outrages opened the plison doors to Parnell 14 and his fri nds If England really wished to deal fairly by Ireland why not issue a general amnesty by which the prison doors wou1d be opened and thousands of our exiled i brethrer who now pine in foreign lands could return in safety and honor Instead of this Gladstone sent emissaries to the venerated head of the Catholic Cath-olic church who by lies and false representations have deprived thousands of our poor persecuted i people of the comforts of religion a by turning our altars into political platforms Let us ask the people a of Ireland are there no classes of people to be considered except farmers and of what avail will it be to Ireland if a selfish class is t firmly rooted in the soil and becomes i i be-comes thoroughly loyal to England We ask our friends In America to ponder upon our desperate circumstances circum-stances to think of brave and honorable hon-orable people driven to despair by k witnessing the white bosoms of women torn open by the bayonets it of English mercenaries and our children of tender years shot down i in the highways while our wails of anguish are stifled in blood Weare convinced il that no true prosperity can exist in Ireland so long as England possesses pos-sesses her custom houses there allowing al-lowing her manufactures to pass free thereby leaving our Irish mechanics me-chanics unemployed and an enormous enor-mous war tribute exacted in England Eng-land taking away the produce of the land and thereby forcing the Irish people to starve Now furthermore we call upon all our brethren in America particularly par-ticularly advanced nationalists to aid by every means within their power the men who have carried out this execution and we hereby further declare tuey deserve w11 of I their country By order of the executive ol tu n LRB |
