Show The Texas and Pacific Little Rock TbeGazettes special dated end of the Texas and Pacific Railroad Rail-road track says the road is now complete and in operation at a point 145 miles east of El Paso and 492 miles west of Dallas in Lympha Mountains 4200 feet above tbe sea level and 4200 feet higher than Dallas About twelve miles of track laying is averaged every week at which rate El Paso will be reached before January 1st The grading is completed except a few mies ia Cano sids Pass which will be finished in three weeks The bridges one hundred sad < sixty in number between San Kschae and Eagle Pass rro being pat in as fast as the track approaches Over one hundred hun-dred trackmen are employed on station houses and depots Water tanks are put put in ovdry twenty mile and whore a spring is i not found wells are dug by steam lobinery and an abundance of water obtained The track laying force is kept up to three hundred men and fifty teams Seventeen cars of irln and forty cars of tics per day are used The telegraph wire is kept up with the end of the track The weather is frosty There are no cattle on the rAnge west of Pecog except two hundred head There is i suf 5cent range west of the Pec a to feed all the cattle and sheep in the mountains All game is abundant There have been no Indians along the line for tvo months On the first of January through passenger passen-ger trains will be run between St Louis and San Francisco and all points in Calf fornia and Oregon |
