Show BISHOP MORRIS DEAD 4 J Bishop R V Morris of the Nineteenth Nine-teenth Ward is dead The gentleman gentle-man bad been ailing for some time and latterly was confined to his bed While it was known that he was seriously indisposed few entertained enter-tained the idea that he would not rally and ultimately regain his accustomed ac-customed health Bishop Morris himself however seemed to have a premonition that his hour was approaching ap-proaching and he so expressed himself him-self on several occasions during his illness On Thursday last he told his brother the esteemedElias Morris Mor-ris that he feared his end had come He bore his sickness with fortitude his sonly complaint being that he was weary and he wished he might ba taken home On Sunday evening about an hour prior to his dissolution which occurred at 915 he called his family to his bedside and bade them an affectionale farewell fare-well His death was caused by tvnhoid nneumonia Bishop Morris was born in Aber gele Deubigshire North Wale on the 23rd day of September 1830 In the year 1855 after having occupied several church positions in Eng land where he labored in the missionary field he emigrated to Utah Since that time he has J been on a mission to Great Britain and returning was made Bishop of the Nineteenth Ward some four years ag D While not a strong map physically physi-cally he has been identified with a number ef humble home industries and has manifested a most commendable com-mendable enterprise and a great deal of public spirit He is well known for his connection with the Nineteenth Ward soap factory and in many ways has shown a disposition disposi-tion to help the country by establishing establish-ing much needed local enterprises He was very mild affable courteous courte-ous and pleasant and made friends of all who had the privilege of being be-ing intimate with him and his absence will be seriously felt by those with whom he was closely associated both in temporal as we las l-as in spiritual affairs The funeral will take place today to-day at 12 oclock from the Nineteenth Nine-teenth Ward school house The remains re-mains of the deceased will be conveyed con-veyed to the building shortly after 11 so that those who may desire so to do can have the privilege of looking upon the features for the last time from 1130 until oclock I the hour at which the services commences com-mences This is in accordance with the wishes of the deceased himself who disliked long funeralsas well as with the desire of members of the family |
