Show Petition for Sewers Yesterday a petition was being circulated on East Temple street stating that the amount of filth and poisonous matter which has been continuously deposited in cesspools and on the soil for the past twenty years is seriously endangering the health of the citizens and increasing increas-ing the death rate far above what this healthy locality should return through malignant fevers etc caused by the vapors arising from the depQsits of filth and requesting i that the City Council take immediate immedi-ate steps to adopt a system of sewerage sew-erage for the city suggesting also if the revenue does not justify such an expenditure of means that bonds ba issued and the taxes be raised sufficiently to at least pay the interest on the bonds The petition pe-tition is signed by most if not all the leading merchants and businessmen business-men of the city |
