Show Wansliip Ratification S A ratification meeting was held in the Vans hip schoolhouse Summit Sum-mit County October 24th 1882 The meeting was called to order by J C Roundy and E B Young Sr was elected chairman of the meeting meet-ing He then stated the object of the meeting Hon W W Cluff being be-ing called upon made some preliminary prelim-inary remarks on the object of the meeting He referred to our present pres-ent political condition showed it was different from what it had been in times past It requirecl us to take more interest in politics than we had done heretofore He then read the declaration of principles of the peoples party He spoke of the meeting held by the Lib sral party at Coalville on the 23d and the misrepresentation set forth by the speakers He made some spirited remarks on the merits of the Peoples platform referred re-ferred to the remarks of a prominent legal gentleman who had saidit was the best he had ever heard He said that many of the accusations brought against us by the socalled Liberal party were not true in the sense that they applied them to us His remarks and reading drew forth frequent applause from the audience audi-ence E E Young sr made some remarks re-marks on the course pursued by political parties to accomplish their points Judge Ward E Pack being called upon made some spirited and telling tell-ing remarks on the past experience inconveniences and sufferings of the people which had been brought upon them ny political tricksters sent into our midst by government who had misrepresented us twisted the law and been guilty of other illegal proceedings At the close of his remarks he moved that the Peoples Peo-ples platform be adopted as the sentiments of this meeting also made a motion to ratify the nomination nomi-nation of the Peoples candidate Both motions were unanimously carried and the meeting adjourned sine die Tnos WALTON I Secretary |
